British Open Championship

The Libyan National Unified Karate Team secured five medals at the British Open Championship, which concluded on Sunday in Birmingham.

The team, consisting of three athletes – Alaa Al-Hantoush, Mohamed Janan, and Muqbil Al-Arabi – was accompanied by national coach Mamoun Anbiya, according to the Libyan Olympic Committee.

Al-Hantoush led the medal tally for Libya, earning a silver medal in the individual kata for children aged 13. He also clinched three bronze medals in various Kumite categories for children aged 13 and under 58 kg: Shobu Ippon, Shobu Sanbon, and Shobu Nihon.

Al-Arabi added to the team’s success by winning a bronze medal in the individual kata for adults.
