PM Dbeibah-Almadani

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah has honored Libyan Karate Championship Salama Al-Madani, who won a gold medal in an international Championship in Tunisia.

The ninth-grade student from Benghazi was among 447 athletes who competed in the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Karate Championship in Radès of Tunisia about two weeks ago.

An event was held to honor the athlete on Tuesday in the presence of the PM, minister of sports, and president of the Karate Federation.

Dbeibah praised the Sports Ministry and the Libyan Karate Federation for their "efforts in sponsoring Libyan talents and supporting them in local and international competitions."

Al-Madani, who clinched gold in women’s kumite over 61kg in Tunisia, had also won a gold medal for women's kumite over 54kg in last year's African Karate Championship in South Africa, becoming the first Libyan female to hold gold in a continental championship.
