The United Nations (UN) Credentials Committee has announced the possibility of the UN General Assembly agreeing to postpone a decision on the claim of the Government of National Unity (GNU) and the parallel government in Libya to the country's seat in the United Nations.

Diplomats said that postponing the decision leaves the current envoy in his seat, thus raising the demand of the parallel government to obtain the seat this year in the UN, which is currently occupied by the GNU in Tripoli.

The UN Credentials Committee includes nine members, most notably Russia, China and the United States.
