The Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation in the Government of National Unity agreed with the municipality of Zuwara to establish labour housing zone in the municipality.
This came during a meeting between the Ministry’s official, Bakir Abu Shehiwa, with the mayor of the Zuwara Municipal Council, Osama Mahdi, according to the Ministry’s statement on its Facebook page.
The Municipal Council welcomed the initiative due to its importance in eliminating the phenomenon of informal settlements, where many migrants live among residential neighborhoods, pledging to begin procedures for allocating land for labour housing in order to facilitate the identification of workers.
They stressed the importance of this step in controlling the legal procedures for workers and maintaining security with the participation of all security and police authorities in accordance with the standards and requirements of the Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation.
