The Director of the Information Office of Mitiga Airport Khaled Abu-Griss confirmed that flights will be suspended for the next 48 hours, in addition to the evacuation of all passengers following the landing of two missiles near the control tower at the airport.

Abu-Griss clarified in a press statement on Friday that some flights have been temporarily transferred to Misrata Airport for reasons of safety until receiving further notice from the Civil Aviation Authority, adding that several airline companies have cancelled their flights for the day.

For his part, the spokesman of Misrata Airport Sulaiman Al-Juhaimi confirmed that all flights heading to Mitiga will be redirected to Misrata Airport.
