The US Special Envoy/ Ambassador Richard Norland visited Algeria on Sunday for consultations over a mechanism for supporting Libya's peace process.

“Very valuable consultations with Algeria today on how Libya's neighbours can support the political process for the benefit of Libya and the region," Norland wrote on Twitter.

The ambassador said he discussed with Algerian officials the vision of UN Envoy Abdoulaye Bathily for a process that includes key Libyan actors, institutions, and civil societies, following Bathily's press conference on Saturday.

Norland expressed his desire to continue consultations with Algeria on the Libya file, stressing the need to create a new incentive to organize elections and find a lasting political solution.
