The US Special Envoy, Richard Norland, said on Monday that the recent establishment of a Supreme Financial Oversight Committee was an important step toward equitable distribution of public revenues and greater fiscal transparency.
Norland added in a tweet by the US embassy that Libya’s wealth must benefit all Libyans across all regions, saying that Washington recognizes the leadership of Presidential Council's Head Mohammed Menfi and National Oil Corporation's (NOC) Chairman Ferhat Bengdara and commends Libyan leaders from throughout the country for their role in the Committee’s creation.
"This show of unity sets an important precedent for peaceful resolution of legitimate grievances and demonstrates a commitment to stability critical for elections." Norland remarked.
