The number of migrants in Libya and Algeria has increased significantly since December 2023, as the military authorities in Niger repealed migrant smuggling law, which was passed in 2015 and repealed in November 2023, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The IOM explained that the main nationalities monitored were from Niger (75%), Nigeria (7%), Chad (5%), and Mali (2%).
