The Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency said on Tuesday that the number of detention centers for illegal immigrants has been reduced to 12 from a previous 34.

The media advisor for the agency, Milad Saadi, told the Italian news agency AKI that Zuwara branch of the agency reduced the number of illegal immigrants to less than 500 out of the previous 800 migrants who were present.

Earlier, Doctors Without Borders had expressed concern regarding the situation of migrants detained in Zuwara as a result of overcrowding and insufficient food and medicines.
