The parallel government's Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy said that the power outage in the eastern region on Monday night came as a result of a failure in the electrical grid and a stoppage in a number of generating units in the western region, according to a statement on its Facebook page.

The Ministry's General Administration of Control in the Eastern Region said that it charged 500 megawatts, which contributed to saving the network from complete darkness.

The administration said that the power transmission lines linking the eastern and western wings are supposed to handle the distribution of 750 megawatts, but due to their deterioration, the power transmitted through them is being reduced.
