The Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of the Director-General of the National General Maritime Transport Company, on charges of embezzlement of public funds and abuse of power.
This was based on an investigation conducted by the Internal Security Agency, which revealed serious financial and administrative violations committed by the company’s management.
The Public Prosecution said in a statement that the accused obtained illegal financial gain and wasted hundreds of millions of foreign exchange.
