The Municipality of Sabratha announced the closure of the weekly livestock market on October 15 until further notice, as a result of the spread of bluetongue disease to ensure the safety of citizens and to prevent the further spread of the disease among livestock.

Bluetongue disease has caused the death of dozens of livestock over the past period in different regions of the country. It is considered an epidemic disease that affects sheep, cattle, and ruminants in general, which transmitted by insects and is not transmitted to humans.
