Five members of Sabratha Municipality voted no confidence in the mayor, Hussein Al-Dawadi, and mandated member of the municipal council Miftah Breishni to succeed him.
Al-Dawadi said in a press statement that he has no objection to the vote; however, he believes that the timing of this step is not appropriate considering that there is only four months left on his current mandate.
He further noted that he has not officially received a no-confidence letter so far, insisting that the decision of withholding confidence requires the meeting of members of the municipal council, and thereafter transmitting the decision to the Ministry of Local Government for approval, rather than coming up with individual decisions.
