The gathering was an opportunity to enhance communication between municipal council female members to discuss common issues and concerns.

Abu Bakr Trabelsi, Advisor to the Minister of Local Government, opened the forum with a speech in which he welcomed all participating women from all regions of Libya, praising their role in advancing the local government sector.

He highlighted the crucial role that women play at the levels of innovation and leadership in order to meet the needs of the local community, noting the interest of the Government of National Unity in enhancing women’s political participation to ensure their effective contribution to domestic decision-making.

It is noteworthy that Minister Badr El-Din Al-Toumi of the Local Government issued a decision to establish a female municipal council members forum to foster the capabilities and skills of elected women in the field of local administration.

The forum also serves as a regulatory framework for female officials in the local government sector to share scientific and practical knowledge in the field of local development.
