The Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Aoun, has confirmed the closure of the El Feel and El Sharara oil fields since Thursday.
Members of the Al-Zwiya tribe issued a statement claiming responsibility for closing the two fields and stopping production from them in protest against the arrest of the Minister of Finance of the former Government of National Accord, Faraj Boumtari.
Tribe members said that the closure of the El-Feel field aims to pressure the authorities in Tripoli to release Boumtari after his arrival at Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli last Tuesday.
