The UN has urged Libyans to maintain calm and stability and avoid any incitement to violence, hate speech, and disinformation.

Commenting on the Libyan Parliament's move to grant confidence to a new transitional government headed by Fathi Bashagha, the UN Secretary-General Spokesman Stephane Dujarric confirmed during the UN daily press briefing on Tuesday that the situation in Libya is being monitored closely.

"We are obviously watching very closely these developments as they unfold fairly quickly in Libya. We also stress the need to ensure that processes and decisions are transparent and adhere to establish rules and agreements."

In response to a question regarding UN Rep. Stephanie Williams's role in Libya, Dujarric said that she and all members of the UN mission continue to communicate with all parties concerned on the political end as well as civil society players.
