A UNESCO delegation has conducted a field visit to the ancient city of Sabrata to evaluate its current condition and explore ways to support its preservation.
According to Libya’s Department of Antiquities, the visit aimed to strengthen scientific cooperation and provide assistance in safeguarding the city's historic landmarks.
Officials also reviewed progress on conservation and restoration efforts as part of broader initiatives to protect Libya’s cultural heritage.
The delegation was accompanied by senior Libyan officials, including the head of the Tourism Police and Antiquities Protection Authority, a representative from the Department of Antiquities, and the head of the National Committee for Science and Culture. Local officials in Sabratha welcomed the delegation upon their arrival.
