The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) provided the Ministry of Health in the Government of National Unity (GNU) with 74 units of vaccination storage refrigerators with temperature monitoring devices that alert health workers in the event of a cold chain disruption to take the necessary measures.
UNICEF added on its official Facebook page that it had set appropriate plans to distribute refrigerators to 46 municipalities across the country to improve cold chain capabilities, adding that it had previously delivered 1,029 cold boxes, vaccine carriers and four cold rooms to the National Center for Disease Control and Medical Supply System.
UNICEF noted that the high-quality cold chain allows health workers to continue the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 in Libya, indicating that it is working with the Health Ministry and its partners to prepare to receive and distribute vaccinations.
