The UN Security Council adopted Monday a resolution submitted by Britain to extend permission to inspect ships destined for Libya for another year.

According to resolution No. 2420, the UNSC authorized the European Union’s maritime force to enforce an arms embargo on the high seas off the coast of Libya for another year.

The UN Security Council imposed an arms embargo on Libya in 2011.

In 2016, the Council adopted resolution 2292 for the strict enforcement of the arms embargo on the high seas off the coast of Libya.
