The United States (US) Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, discussed with the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Farhat Bengdara, the strategy to increase oil production adopted by the NOC.
After the meeting on Wednesday, Norland said, according to the US embassy on X, Libya’s economic future depended on the energy sector, and the leadership of the NOC was vital, adding that its technocratic integrity must be protected.
Norland congratulated the NOC for its aspiration toward a greener future and for unveiling its new decarbonization strategy at the United Nations Climate Change Conference. He expressed the US wish to partner with the NOC to achieve the common climate goals.
