The American special envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, has expressed his admiration for the archaeological site of Leptis Magna in the city of Khums, describing it as one of the archaeological treasures of Libya's history.

“Amazing visit to the ancient site of Leptis Magna joined by our partner the Libyan Department of Antiquities.  We applaud the efforts of the people of Khums and the Libyan Department of Antiquities in safeguarding this treasure of Libya's rich history”, Norland said on his X platform page.

“The United States looks forward to working together with Libyan counterparts through the joint Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Property Protection, which we renewed last year, to preserve this remarkable legacy”, he added.
