tiger

A large tiger spotted rolling around in Msallata earlier this week is still missing, raising safety concerns.

An official at the Zerog Agricultural Police said the department received reports from three eyewitnesses who confirmed seeing the tiger in several locations.

On Saturday, he told a local news outlet that the authorities are searching for the big cat on the city's outskirts, well known as the Saffron Forest.

The tiger, which escaped from a private household, was reported missing during Eid al-Fitr, prompting agriculture police, security services, and hunters to join the search for the animal, while the public was warned to stay indoors during the Eid holidays.

Last night, the police said they found traces of the predatory animal while patrolling the suburbs of Msallata.

Social media platforms were abuzz with news of the tiger allegedly reaching areas like Tajoura and Souk Al Jumaa, although the police have yet to confirm these reports.
