The Committee of Organizing Competitions of the Libyan Football Federation has set the date for the rematch between Al-Hilal and Al-Akhdar teams on June 15 at Bashir Gouda Stadium in Al-Marj; eastern Libya.

The match - which will be held at 17:00 local time - is of great importance for the two teams, as whoever wins the match will be among the six teams qualifying for the six-team group of the Libyan football league. The two teams have 29 points.

The match could not be played on its original date and location: at Benina Martyrs Stadium in Benghazi, after the Al-Akhdar team and its fans were subjected to an attack that prevented them from reaching the stadium. Al-Akhdar administration said that security men and armed men affiliated with official bodies participated in the attack.

After the incident, Al-Bayda city saw angry protests denouncing what happened in Benghazi and explicitly accusing Khalifa Haftar’s sons of causing these problems. During the protests, photos of Haftar and his sons were torn down and slogans denouncing them were raised.
