Libyan futsal team won 5-4 against Mauritania on Sunday in the second round of the second group matches of the AFCON Futsal 2024 that is being hosted by Morocco.

With this victory, the Mediterranean Knights revived their hopes of reaching the semi-finals by achieving three points to equal the standings with the Mauritanian team, while the Egyptian team topped the group with a full score of six points from two wins, and Namibia bottomed the group with zero points.

In the third and final round of the group stage, Libya will play Namibia, which lost all its chances after losing to the Egyptian national team on Sunday.

The tournament began last Thursday in the Moroccan city of Rabat, with the participation of eight teams divided into two groups. This continental tournament is a qualifier for the FIFA Futsal World Cup, which will be hosted by Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 6, 2024, as the teams in the top three places in the tournament will qualify directly to the World Cup.
