The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) announced the holding of the six-team Premier League group in Italy, in an unprecedented step in the history of Libyan football.
The LFF has set the date for the start of matches on June 24, and the delegations of the six participating clubs will arrive in Italy on June 20. The matches will be held with an interval of two days between each round, ensuring the presence of foreign refereeing teams.
The teams are Al-Nasr, Al-Suwaihli, Al-Ahly Benghazi, Al-Madina, Al-Ahly Tripoli, in addition to the third team from the first group, whose decision depends on the result of a match between Al-Hilal and Al-Akhdar, which will determine the identity of the holder of the sixth place.
The Minister of Sports, Abdel Shafi Al-Juwaifi, said that Italy chose the stadiums of the city of Turin to host the matches. Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah instructed the Ministry of Sports to support the clubs participating in the six-team group of the Premier League. He said on Monday that the ministry should cover all expenses for holding the matches.
The six-team group was held in the past two years in Tunisia, and despite the government’s pledge to hold it this year in Libya, it failed to fulfill its promises.
