The Libyan Coast Guard retrieved the bodies of three children, rescued 361 illegal immigrants and announced the loss of 100 others off the coast of Qarabulli east of Tripoli on Friday.

The Libyan Navy spokesman Ayoub Qasim said the migrants were aboard three rubber boats, including 15 children and 39 women, adding that they are of different Arab and African nationalities.

Qasim added that the migrants were taken to the landing point at the Tripoli Naval Base and handed over to the Illegal Immigration Control Centre in Sikka Road, after receiving humanitarian and medical assistance.

Coast Guard sources identified the three dead children as two Moroccans and one Egyptian.

The migrants came from Egypt, Morocco, Yemen, Sudan, Nigeria, Ghana and Zambia.
