The Director of the Office of Cooperation and International Relations at Afriqiyah Airways, Almoez Mustafa, has confirmed that an Airbus 330 aircraft was temporarily grounded at Niamey Airport in Niger due to some outstanding debts.

“We contacted our representative, our offices in the city, and the airport administration, and the problem was resolved immediately”, Mustafa said.

The delay in the plane's return was due to a disruption in the processing of some administrative papers due to Saturday being an official holiday that also Eid al-Fitr holiday, he added, pointing out that the plane's crew was forced to leave work and rest as they exceeded the specified work period.

Mustafa confirmed that the plane left Niamey Airport and is now returning to its usual flight schedule, stressing that it has no obligations to the Nigerien authorities.
