Attorney General Al-Siddiq Al-Sour met with Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, in Tripoli on Monday to discuss progress in investigations into serious violations in Libya.
According to a statement from the Attorney General’s office, the discussions focused on creating a joint cooperation mechanism involving Libya’s three branches of government to ensure justice for victims and prevent impunity.
The meeting also addressed plans for sharing expertise and providing technical and research support on mutual interests.
Khan is scheduled to brief the United Nations Security Council from Tripoli on Tuesday. His address will highlight measures undertaken by the ICC to ensure accountability and justice for crimes committed in Libya.
The ICC Prosecutor is also expected to provide updates on arrest warrants issued against members of the "Kaniyat militia" and will invite Libyan civil society representatives to speak before the Security Council.
