Bangladeshi authorities have arrested Mohammad Fakhruddin, the alleged leader of a human trafficking network operating between Bangladesh and Libya, upon his arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka from Cairo.

Security forces also detained Shawkat Ali, an official at Biman Bangladesh Airlines, for allegedly aiding Fakhruddin’s attempted escape.

Reports suggest that victims of the trafficking ring may pursue legal action against the suspects.

According to local media, Fakhruddin had been orchestrating the smuggling of migrants from Bangladesh to Libya, where they were detained and tortured to extort ransom payments from their families.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing, with efforts to dismantle trafficking networks targeting vulnerable migrants.
