The presidency of the Fathi Bashagha's government called for restraint and avoidance of what it described as the political and military escalation of the "usurping" Government of National Unity (GNU), which aims to blockade oil and flights.

Bashagha's government held the GNU responsible for national and legal responsibility for the consequences of blatant interference in the affairs of the Central Bank of Libya and the National Oil Corporation and Libyan Investment Authority.

The statement accused the national unity government of seeking to deepen the division through its "provocative" policy, which it said "aims to stop oil production and cut off road, land and air transportation between the east, west and south."

The government called for keeping the National Oil Corporation, the Central Bank of Libya and the Libyan Investment Authority away from political polarization and exploitation, voicing keenness to support the military institution through the support of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission.

Bashagha government's statement was a comment on a statement issued by the members of the 5+5 JMC representing Haftar's forces, calling for a blockade on oil exports from Libya and a shutdown of the coastal road. The members of the 5+5 JMC also called for stopping flights between east and west Libya.
