Prime Minister of the interim government (GNU) Abdul Hamid Dbeibah on Monday received his Palestinian counterpart Mohammed Shtayyeh and his accompanying delegation at the Council of Ministers HQ in Tripoli.

A statement by the PM media office said PM Shtayyeh is on an official visit to Libya to discuss bilateral relations, developments in the Palestinian cause, and ways to support the Palestinian people who are resisting the occupation.

Shtayyeh arrived at Matiga Airport in Tripoli, on Sunday evening, where he was received by Interior Minister Khaled Mazen.

The Palestinian News Agency had reported earlier that PM Mohammed Shtayyeh would travel Sunday to Libya for talks with senior Libyan officials on bilateral relations and issues related to the Palestinian cause.

The two sides have lately held ministerial meetings and agreed to develop economic ties.

Increasing the volume of trade exchange and facilitating the importing of Palestinian products to Libya was in focus at a meeting between the economy ministers of both countries on the sidelines of a recent Arab Economic and Social Ministerial session in Cairo.
