Libya has taken the lead in discussions aimed at establishing a nuclear-weapon-free zone, hosting key meetings at the United Nations. 

Chaired by Libya's Permanent Representative to the UN, Taher El-Sonni, the sessions focused on the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and global arrangements for ensuring safety and security.

Experts from international organizations contributed scientific insights, emphasizing best practices and lessons learned from other regions.

The meetings, spanning three days, also discussed priority areas for Middle Eastern countries regarding peaceful nuclear use, along with potential institutional frameworks for future collaboration.
