Jan Vycital

The European Union Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM) welcomed its new head, Jan Vycital, who assumed his duties on Wednesday.

Vycital expressed his honour in taking on this role and his eagerness to work closely with the Libyan authorities, counterparts, and colleagues at EUBAM.

He emphasized the commitment to more effective border monitoring, enhancing border security, and paving the way for Libya's better, more stable, and safer future.

Vycital, a Czech diplomat with over 20 years of experience, has served as the Czech Republic's ambassador to Tunisia, Iraq, and Libya.

Launched in May 2013, EUBAM says its goal is to contribute to strengthening the capacity of relevant authorities in managing Libya's borders and combating cross-border crime, including human trafficking, migrant smuggling, and terrorism.

The mission provides technical advice and capacity-building activities at operational and technical levels, including specialized projects and training, as well as strategic advice upon request.
