The House of Representatives (HoR) expressed its dismay Friday over some international parties' "failure to grasp the Libyan situation beyond their narrow interests."
The statement criticized remarks made by the Sudanese envoy at the UN Security Council, which "inaccurately implicated" Libya in the armed conflict among Sudanese factions.
In its statement on the UN Security Council session on Libya held on June 19, 2024, the House expressed bewilderment at "the lack of understanding of the Libyan situation by some international parties driven solely by their narrow interests."
The statement also highlighted the appointment of eight UN international envoys to Libya, indicating a lack of progress in resolving the Libyan crisis. This comes despite the HoR's approval of electoral laws based on the recommendations of the (6+6) Committee, the HoR says.
The House underscored that the allegations are baseless and called on Sudanese authorities to prioritize reason, expressing readiness to facilitate dialogue among the conflicting parties to end bloodshed and promote reconciliation among Sudanese brothers.
