The Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, briefed the members of the HoR about the results of his visits to Egypt and Turkey, during the official session held on Monday at its headquarters in the city of Benghazi, according to what was announced by spokesman Abdullah Blehiq.

Blehiq added in a press statement published on his Facebook page that the Head of the General Authority for Hajj and Umrah, Mohammed Saleh, took the legal oath before the HoR to carry out his duties in accordance with the law, before the session was suspended until Tuesday.

On 13 and 14 December 2023, Saleh visited Turkey, where he met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, and the Foreign Minister. He then headed from Turkey to Egypt, where he met in Cairo with both Khalifa Haftar and the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi.

Saleh's discussions in Cairo and Ankara focused on developments in the political process in Libya and the initiative of the Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, aimed at relaunching the political dialogue.
