The chief of so-called Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) Ibrahim Jadran has rejected the force majeure declared by the National Oil Corporation on Ras Lanuf and Sidra oil terminals, accusing its chairman Mustafa Sanallah of “acting according to his political orientation.”
In a video statement on Sunday, the militiaman said the oil ports are open to the Presidential Council and National Oil Corporation to resume crude exports, reiterating his loyalty to the Presidential Council despite the latter’s official announcement to disown him.
Chairman of Presidential Council Fayez Sarraj had declared Ibrahim Jadran forces as illegitimate.
In his statement, Jadran called the international community to form a fact-finding mission and visit the oil crescent region to assess the situation, extending a similar call to Libyan tribal leaders.
“We don’t come to the oil crescent region to seek revenge, our Magharba tribesmen want to return to their homes.” He said, confirming that his force abides by the international humanitarian law on the protection of civilians.
“We did not commit war crimes. We did not arrest civilians. We did not storm houses.” He indicated, adding that his fighters would defend themselves against “the terrorist organization of Dignity Operation.”
On Sunday, Ibrahim Jadran handed over 20 Dignity Operation prisoners to the Libyan Red Crescent; all were arrested during his attack on Ras Lanuf and Sidra oil terminals on Thursday.
The National Oil Corporation declared a force majeure on Ras Lanuf and Sidra oil terminals and ordered Jadran to leave the two ports immediately.
