The Italian Ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino, has revealed that reconstruction work for Tripoli International Airport will be completed in 2024

He praised what he described as "encouraging progress of work that began last February."

Buccino visited, Thursday, the airport which reconstruction has been awarded to the consortium of Italian companies, "Aeneas ", according to Italian embassy tweet on Twitter. 

The Italian ambassador inspected the construction, saying that the airport, once completed, will be able to serve more than 6.5 million passengers annually, and it will act as a bridge for Libya to the Mediterranean and the world.

The reconstruction project aims to build two terminals, one for domestic flights and the other international, with all airport facilities. Both terminals cover a total area of about 30 thousand square meters, with a capacity to receive about six million passengers per year.
