Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous Operation’s military sources said “foreign warplanes” targeted convoys for forces led by Ibrahim Jadran in Gadahiya and Sadada in southwestern Sirte on Saturday.
The sources said the foreign aircraft, which said could be from the UAE, did a large-scale assault operation in the desert in southern Sirte looking for Jadran’s forces’ gathering spots so their threat to the oil crescent region can be undermined by the attacks.
“Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous announced state of emergency in and around Sirte for fear of any eminent attacks by Haftar’s forces which are now positioned 90 kilometers to the east of Sirte,” the sources explained.
Meanwhile, pro-Haftar news outlets said warplanes of Haftar’s general command air raided Sadada in southern Sirte and destroyed Benghazi Defense Brigades’ (BDB) locations.
Haftar and his forces accuse BDB of allying with Jadran, but the former denied though several previous commanders taking part in any fighting at the oil crescent, assuring that the BDB has been disbanded.
After a week of tit-for-tat attacks in the vicinity of the oil terminals in Libya’s oil crescent region and a huge loss in oil production, Haftar’s forces managed to control the region with the assistance of the UAE aircraft which heavily air attacked Jadran’s forces in Al-Sidra and Ras Lanuf ports, leading to Haftar’s forces full grip on the area.
