The Libyan National Commission for Education, Culture and Science signed an agreement with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) to host the 45th session of the Executive Council of ICESCO, scheduled to be held in January 2025 in Tripoli.
The signing took place in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, between Libya's Permanent Representative to ICESCO, Mohamed Amari Zayed, and the Director of the General Secretariat of ICESCO, Salem Al-Habsi, who expressed his confidence in the ability of the competent authorities in Libya to provide the factors for the success of ICESCO Executive Council meetings.
Al-Habsi pointed out that ICESCO Executive Council meetings will include a consultative meeting of member states on the opportunities and challenges facing the Islamic world.
Amari Zayed confirmed that the Libyan authorities would work to provide all the necessary capabilities to ensure the success of hosting and organizing ICESCO Executive Council in Tripoli.
The meetings of ICESCO Executive Council are held annually, in the presence of the Council members and delegations of the 53 member states of the organization. The Council is responsible for discussing and approving performance reports and action plans submitted by ICESCO's General Directorate.
