The Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) has welcomed the support of the United States (US) and its calls for an immediate lifting of the blockade on Libyan oil production.

The NOC added on Wednesday in a tweet that it also welcomed the withdrawal of all armed groups from NOC installations and facilities.

The White House said in a statement for the National Security Adviser Ambassador Robert C. O’Brien that Washington calls on all parties – both those responsible for the current escalation and those working to end it – to enable the National Oil Corporation to resume its vital work, with full transparency.

Pro-Haftar tribesmen and armed groups blockaded oil production and exports in last January, thus inflicting a financial loss on Libya that amounted so far to over 7.8 billion dollars.

The NOC called in a separate statement on Tuesday for ending the blockade on oil to enable international partners to provide more support to Libya to limit the spread of coronavirus in the country.
