The Mayor of Ajdabia city, Salim Jodran said, in a press statement Wednesday, that his city won’t allow any military force under the command of leaders whom they do not trust to pass, in a clear reference to the renegade General Khalifa Haftar’s forces, which are said to be preparing to head to Sirte.

“This military action by those forces aims at controlling the oil facilities in order to use them in the political arena.” Said Jodran, adding that the delegation sent by HoR Speaker, Aqilah Saleh, to discuss the authorization for allowing a military force to pass to fight IS in Sirte, was informed by Ajdabia municipality that they do not trust the Commander in Chief of the army related to the HoR.

“We only receive orders from the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government.” He remarked.

The Oil Facilities Guard forces, which have been controlling the oil ports and shutting them down since 2013, have clashed heavily with the IS militants who retreated from Derna.

The OFG accused, then, Haftar’s militias of securing the withdrawal of the terrorist group from Derna and enabling them to attack the oil ports.
