The Head of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, discussed in Washington DC with American legislative analysts developments in the Libyan crisis, and ways to provide consultations that would help in the solution.
The High Council of State (HCS) said in a statement that Takala and a number of HCS members met with one of the senior legislative analysts for the US Foreign Relations Committee, Christopher Barr, and another analyst, Andrew Hanna, at the Congress headquarters in Washington, in the presence of the Chargé d’Affairs of the Libyan embassy in the US, Al-Fadeel Al-Senussi.
The meeting discussed the Libyan political situation and regional and international issues, with a focus on the Libyan crisis and the important nature that Libya’s stability would reflect on the region.
Takala and the HCS delegation arrived in Washington DC last Monday, and they began their visit by meeting with the Special Envoy of the United States to Libya, Richard Norland. They discussed with him the anticipated initiative of the UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, to reach a settlement for the political crisis in Libya. Bathily intends to announce his initiative in the coming days.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for North African Affairs, Joshua Harris, who discussed the most important political files in the Middle East, in addition to ways to resolve the Libyan political crisis. Discussions also covered Bathily's initiative.
