The Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler confirmed his country's support for the Libyan people's desire to hold elections to achieve stability. This came during a meeting between members of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission in the Turkish capital Ankara with Turkish Defense Minister and Chief of Staff.
The meeting between the two sides discussed the progress of the Commission's work and what it has achieved on the ground, while the Defense Minister commended the Commission's role in establishing a ceasefire in Libya since its signing.
Khairy Al-Tamimi, a member of the 5+5 Commission and director of Haftar's office, conveyed the Turkish Defense Minister's happiness with the rapprochement with what he called the "General Command of the Armed Forces"; to "turn the page on the past", and the committee welcomed the Egyptian-Turkish rapprochement, stressing the continuation of efforts to expel all mercenaries and foreign forces from Libya.
The 5+5 Joint Military Commission also called for the necessity of forming a new government in Libya to hold presidential and parliamentary elections, end the crisis, and achieve stability.
