Acting Foreign Minister in the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, discussed with the Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Güven Begeç, preparations for Libya to host the Turkey-Africa Summit in early 2026.

This came during a meeting held on Wednesday at the Foreign Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, according to a statement published on the ministry’s Facebook page.

The statement added that the meeting addressed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

During the meeting, regional and international issues of common concern were also discussed, with both sides emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and consultation to face challenges and promote stability in the region.

Both parties stressed the significance of the summit in enhancing cooperation between Turkey and African countries, and Libya’s role in ensuring the summit’s success.

Last February, the Presidential Council indicated that the 38th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa adopted a decision regarding Libya’s hosting of the Africa-Turkey Summit, scheduled to take place in 2026.
