The West Coast Military Zone announced the start of implementing what it called "precise raids on crime dens in the district of Ajilat", in continuation of the security operation launched in the city of Al-Zawiya.
It explained in a statement that these movements came within the military plan aimed at imposing the state's control, strengthening the rule of law, and restoring security and stability in the region.
It stressed the need for civilians to stay away from suspicious places due to the continuation of military operations, calling on all residents to cooperate and communicate with it to report any suspicious "dens or outlaw groups", in order to take the necessary measures against them.
At the beginning of January, the West Coast Military Zone launched a security operation starting from Al-Zawiya "aiming to take down the dens of crime and deter criminals", as the operation included security raids and targeting those dens with drones.
Ajilat is witnessing continuous security troubles, the most recent of which was in January, when clashes broke out between an armed group affiliated with the 103rd Infantry Battalion, known as “Al-Salaa,” and another affiliated with the so-called Hatem Al-Fahri in the vicinity of the Ras Youssef Gate, the Al-Jadida area, and Janan Atiya, areas which were described by local sources as being outside the state’s control.
