Forces from the Western Coast Military Zone exposed organized fuel smuggling networks in the Abu Kammash-Zuwara area in western Libya on Tuesday evening, confirming that efforts to track down those involved in smuggling operations will continue.

The 105th Infantry Battalion and the 62nd Brigade, both affiliated with the Western Coast Military Zone, carried out extensive raids targeting several illegal fuel storage and distribution facilities in Abu Kammash, west of Zuwara. These operations are part of ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and market manipulation.

According to a statement on the Zone's official Facebook page, the raids exposed organized smuggling networks managing illegal fuel storage operations. The forces discovered hundreds of thousands of liters of gasoline and diesel stored in large underground tanks, used for storing fuel, depriving citizens of their right to purchase it at official prices, and smuggling it abroad for massive financial gains benefiting criminal networks.

The Western Coast Military Zone confirmed that authorities had arrested workers operating these sites, all of whom were foreign nationals residing in Libya illegally.

On Tuesday, the Zone announced the launching of operations against criminal hideouts and outlaws in Zuwara, as part of an ongoing military campaign initiated in early January in the cities of Al-Zawiya and Ajilat. These efforts aim to eradicate organized crime and confront outlaws in the region.
