The West Coast Military Zone announced that it had received security procedures for Al-Zawiya Oil Refining in the city. It also said that its forces had started to reinforce their military positions in the city after seizing security of the refinery.

The security operation comes in conjunction with "qualitative military" operations announced by the Zone, the latest of which was targeting a site used for smuggling fuel on the "Bin Youssef" road south of the city.

The forces of the West Coast Military Zone carried out a number of raids on "dens used by gangs" as headquarters for smuggling fuel. It confirmed that its forces continued to monitor targets and districts located within its operation boundaries.

On January 03, the commander of the West Coast Military Zone, Salah Al-Namroush, announced the launching of a military operation that he said aimed to impose security in Al-Zawiya and the West Coast.

The operation, which began from Al-Zawiya as a first stage, aims to eliminate smuggling operations and strike criminal dens with airstrikes and artillery, according to the military operation's media.
