The Ministry of Oil of the Government of National Unity and the National Oil Corporation participated in the Ministerial Conference of the Belt and Road Initiative for Energy in the Chinese city of Qingzhou on Wednesday and Thursday.
The representative of the Ministry of Oil, Majid Al-Sheikh, said that Libya was looking for strategic partnerships and investments in the oil, gas and renewable energy sectors.
Al-Sheikh stressed the need to benefit from modern technologies and global expertise in these fields, while the National Oil Corporation was represented at the conference by the Director of the International Cooperation Office, Attiya Ali, who pointed out that Al-Sheikh emphasized Libya's interest in investing in renewable and clean energy to combat increasing climate change and preserve the environment.
Ali added that combining investment in renewable energy with investment in the oil and gas sector will contribute to enhancing national revenues.
The Chinese side expressed its readiness to support companies that intend to operate in Libya and strengthen cooperation ties between the two countries in the field of energy and alternative energy through the local model cooperation area and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, according to a statement by the Ministry of Oil.
