The National Oil Corporation (NOC) said Monday that technical issues are getting in the way of opening the Rayayna valve that links to Sharara and El Feel oilfields which pump into Al-Zawiya refinery, adding that attempts to reopen the valve that has been damaged are underway.

The Ministry of Oil and Gas as well as the commander of joint operations room in western region Osama Juweili both confirmed that the valve was reopened but the NOC insisted it wasn't, saying the efforts to reopen it were ongoing but to no positive result yet.

Juweili told the Government of National Unity’s Hokoometna platform that a unit from the western joint operations room went to the area of the closed valve to secure maintenance teams and chase away the “gangs who closed it”.

This came after a decision by Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbiebah to the joint operations room to take immediate necessary action to reopen the valve, which was closed on Friday causing a loss of 330.000 bpd of oil worth over 160 million dinars, according to NOC.
