The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has welcomed the decision of the British (BP) oil company to resume operations in Libya as the country looks forward to increasing its oil outputs.

On the sidelines of the Sierra Week conference in Houston, USA, the NOC Head Mustafa Sanalla discussed with the CEO of BP Bernard Looney the resumption of BP's activity in Libya in its onshore and offshore plots in the Ghadames and Sirte basins.

It was also an opportunity for the NOC to present its strategy for developing onshore and offshore gas exploration with the aim of raising gas production rates in response to the increased global demand for gas.

A statement by the NOC said that the British company expressed its desire to hold a technical workshop to talk over the details and technical aspects of this strategy and the possibility of its contribution to developing opportunities in the oil sector.
